The heartland for tropical nudibranch diversity, including Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste and the Solomon Islands.
Sandy and silty habitats may look plain at first glance, but often hide frogfish, octopus, shrimps and unusual nudibranchs.
Not all nudibranch hotspots are tropical. Cooler seas can produce fascinating species and seasonal blooms.
For nudibranch photography, the best destination is not always the prettiest reef. The richest sites often combine food sources, varied substrate and guides who understand the small details.
