Beautiful Janolus with transparent/white body and cerata bases turning to purple at the tips. There is some colour variation including a more cream to yellow base colour and blue or brown cerata tips. The digestive glands may be seen within the cerata. Typically they are around 30mm in size but can grow to 70mm and juveniles are much smaller with around 40 cerata whereas the adult has around 100. The rhinophores are lamellae and the same colour scheme as the cerata. Between the rhinophores is a ruffled sensory organ (or inter-rhinophoral crest) called a caruncle. All Janolus species have a caruncle.
