Geographic Distribution

Endemic to the Coral Triangle. Recorded from Mabul (Malaysia), Lembeh, Komodo and Bangka (Indonesia), Anilao and Romblon (Philippines).

Identification

The strangest of nudibranchs. The body is transparent and all you can see is the digestive glands visible throughout its body including the 4 or 5 pairs of flattened cerata and the oral hood. It looks a bit like a pile of threads. The fact that it is rare, unusual and only found in a handful of places is how it became the 'Holy Grail' of nudibranchs.

Behaviour / Habitat

It feeds on soft corals of the genera Xenia and Briareum so is generally found in association with them or on the sandy bottom nearby. May be seen during the day but more active at night.

General Notes

Named in 2012 after Neville Coleman the late Australian naturalist who discovered it in 2004.
