A black dorsum with cream to pink tubercles. Black lamellate rhinophores and grey/white gills. Both retractable.
Behaviour / Habitat
A nudibranch that mimics a toxic species of another nudibranch - Phyllidiella pustulosa - that is in a different family/type. The exposed gills are the feature that tell you it is not a Phyllid - but it will readily retract these.
General Notes
This nudibranch displays an example of 'Batesian mimicry'. This is a defence strategy whereby an edible animal mimics a toxic one to deter predators.
