Identification

The colour is highly variable including yellow, orange, brown, green and black with white patches. It is an extremely good mimic of marine sponges and adopts the colour of the prey sponge. The defining characteristic of this slug is the raised mid-dorsal ridge with a deep (crater-like) pit in the centre. The rhinophores are a layered club in the main colour with white edges. The gills are at the posterior and have white speckling and can fully retract into the slightly backward facing gill pocket.

General Notes

When on the sponge this nudibranch is extremely hard to identify.
